Extract from The Medical History of the United States Army in the World War:

During its active service with the British Expeditionary Force, Base Hospital No. 12 cared for 27,438 British and 2,229 American medical cases; for 30,010 British and 966 American surgical cases.

The 60,643 total cases did not include the hundreds, perhaps thousands, treated at the Casualty Clearing Stations by numerous surgical teams sent to the Front by Base Hospital 12, especially in the last three months of hostilities.
